Defendant Bond and his fiancé have written letters to the Court on at least four previous occasions: March 20, September 12, September 19, and November 24, 2006. All of these letters have been written directly to the undersigned Judge and have not been copied to Defendant's appellate counsel or counsel for the Government. As a matter of courtesy, the Court has responded briefly to the four previous letters. The Court has advised Defendant in these responses that the Court cannot engage in ex parte communications with him. Copies of his previous letters, along with the Court's response, have been forwarded to counsel for Defendant and the Government. Copies of Defendant's most recent letters will also be forwarded to counsel. The Court has also advised Defendant that it has no jurisdiction over this case given his appeal to the Ninth Circuit. Despite the Court's previous responses, Defendant continues to write to the Court. His two most recent letters total seven single-spaced pages. Defendant asks the undersigned Judge to respond in detail to his questions and to take other actions in this case.

If the Court's previous efforts to respond courteously to the letters from Mr. Bond and his fiancé have failed clearly to communicate the impropriety of such ex parte communications, the Court will do so now. Mr. Bond and his fiancé should not write any additional letters directly to the Court. The Court may not engage in such ex parte communications with parties in any case. If Mr. Bond seeks to raise a matter with the Court, he must do so through his appointed counsel or a motion filed with the Clerk's office and served on all parties pursuant to the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure. The Court will provide no further responses to letters sent directly to the Court. IT IS ORDERED: Defendant and his fiancé shall not write any additional letters directly to the undersigned Judge. Future communications with the Court should occur only through appointed counsel or motions filed with the Clerk and served on all parties pursuant to the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure.
