MINUTES EXECUTIVE SESSION
September 23, 2002

Board members present: Joan Burnett, Larry Dobrin, Catherine Gilmore, Joan Musgrove,
Larry Ray and by phone Lee England., Aaron Michaelson. Executive Manager Margaret ·
Thayer attended the Erst portion ofthe meeting.
Joan Bumett called the meeting to order.
First part ofthe meeting was an update on legal matters and the property tax issue.
Margaret discussed her plan foxisome major Slllulmllg changes Her feeling was that some
"bad attitudes" were impacting new hires and would affect new people hired. She
wanted to tire Cary, Barb, Jeanne, and Elizabeth. Discussion followed as to the timing of
the move this close to the busy season. Margaret assured the board that she could get the
- new personnel trained before busy season Margaret left the meeting.
Joan stated that the other topic ofthe meeting was a review of Margarefs performance.
Discussion took place as to the areas of Margaret’s performance that needed
improvement and the areas that were being done well. The board thought that progress
was being made in the Food & Beverage area. Tony and Lairy were good choices and -
that the food quality and service had improved. Larry Ray commented that Margaret
seemed to be working well with Steve in golf related issues. Joan reviewed the
_ discussions she had had with Margaret regarding her dress. A motion was made and
° seconded to offer a clothing allowance of $500.00 per month to help this situation.
Motion carried. Margaret’s salary level was discussed and how she knows what Steve
makes and this is impacting her attitude. A motion was made to raise Margaret’s salary to
$88,000. Motion carried. Additional discussion took place as to Margaret’s nervous
behavior and that it distracts from the good things she is doing. `
Catherine Gilmore brought up a concem she had when Margaret mentioned the fact that
_ she was going to make some personnel changes while Larry Lucian was gone. Margaret
wants to terminate four experienced people. Does Larry Lucian agree with these
changes? The board thought that this should be double-checked and Joan and Larry
Dobrin were to talk to her about the changes before they are made. The consensus was
that Jeanne should be kept.
