Subject: Conversation with Marcela
I have informed Lisa of this infomation, but thought you should also we aware. As you know I am out next week
until Friday, but would like to talk to you on Friday if you have time.
I received a call on Wednesday the 15th from Jeff Hanson in EOR. He was over at the team next to mine and
was pulling a name out of a bowl for a contest they were having. There was some clapping and laughter going on
for a couple of minutes. Marcela stood up and told the EOR team to quiet down as they were noisy and _
interfering with our team's ability to speak on the phone. Jeff felt this was very rude and asked me to speak to
Marcela, which I did.
I took her to a private office within 5 minutes of mylcall from Jeff. I told her that her comment made to Jeff and the
EOR team was inappropriate. She indicated that she didn‘t agree with me on that. I again stated`that it was not
herjob to speak to a team or Director from another department in the manner in which she spoke. She should
always bring these issues to me or Joel.
Next I asked her about what was going on with her and Ed Steinert She indicated she was not speaking to him
at all because he made comments to her about her personal calls and butted in on conversations between her
and other team members from time to time. We had a discussion about professional behavior at work and her
responsibility with that. She then brought up the fact that there had been an "HR" issue with Ed and she said she
‘ hadn't shared this with me because she didn‘t want to cause problems. I told her that she must always bring HR
.; issues to me immediately as~it‘ is my responsibility to take these up to the proper channels.
After some probing she said that Ed had "rubbed up against her" and it was uncomfortable. This was a past
issue, not current. She could not or would not supply any additional info on this.
I wanted to discuss this with you, therefore the email to you the other day. I have some very specific feelings
about this comment from Marcela as a pattem exists that she brings things up during difficult conversations that
are entirely out of left field, I think, in an effort to bring the attention away from her an onto others.
Please let me know what yourrthoughts are. -
