No. 97-579C (Judge Williams)

DEFENDANT'S STATUS REPORT REGARDING ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS In accordance with the Court's order dated September 25, 2007, we respectfully submit this status report to inform the Court of the results of our efforts to complete the search for the additional documents sought by the Court in this case. Subsequent to the Court's order, the Justice Management Division of the Department of Justice ("JMD") undertook a renewed search of the files of Attorney Generals Barr and Reno to ensure that no relevant Sensitive Activity Review Committee ("SARC") minutes had been overlooked and that no other relevant documents were contained therein. JMD also searched the personal files of all of the Attorney Generals' assistants and the correspondence files of the Office of the Attorney General for the relevant time period. No responsive documents were discovered. A declaration by Dr. Ronald Plavchan, who conducted the document search, is attached to this filing. The Court also directed that we inform it of the progress made in searching Federal Bureau of Investigation ("FBI") files regarding the Princess. As set forth in Ms. Vicki Hayden's declaration, attached to this filing, we have obtained all FBI documents related to the Princess. Government counsel has duplicated them and provided them to counsel for the Princess in redacted form. The few portions of the FBI files that were redacted (because they contain

classified information or identify the Princess) do not relate to the 1995 kidnaping or to any compensation that may or may not have been promised to the Princess by agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration ("DEA"). Finally, the appropriate authorities at the DEA have declassified the single document in Ms. Hoffman's file that had not been previously provided to counsel for the Princess. We have provided this four-page document to counsel for the Princess. Accordingly, the Government has completed the additional document searches directed by the Court and no further discovery matters remain unresolved. Respectfully submitted, PETER D.
