Attorney for Defendant Star L. Mathias IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT DISTRICT OF ARIZONA United States of America, Plaintiff, Motion to Withdraw Star L. Mathias Defendants m CR 03375PHXJAT

Joe Keilp, appointed trial counsel for defendant Mathias, respectfully moves the Court for an order permitting his withdrawal as counsel. Counsel was appointed pursuant to the Criminal Justice Act to represent Star Mathias, whom the Court had determined was indigent. Counsel represented defendant through all pretrial proceedings, negotiated a plea agreement with the government and represented the defendant through the change of plea and sentencing. Defendant was sentenced to the custody of the Bureau of Prisons and ordered to pay restitution. Counsel's representation under the CJA was thereupon concluded. Defendant has since completed the incarceration portion of her sentence and has been released from the custody of the Bureau of Prisons. Counsel has had no contact with her since her release and is unaware of her present address or of any way of getting in touch with her. The government has now filed a petition for appearance of judgment debtor and served it on counsel. The Criminal Justice Act makes no provision for counsel to represent a defendant in collection proceedings. For all the foregoing reasons, counsel undersigned requests an order permitting him to withdraw from further representation of the defendant. In addition, on behalf of the defendant, counsel requests
