The Medical Center is inthe process of preparing its Strategic Plan. The goalof the
literature and internet search is to gather data and information about the external » ‘
_ environmentthat impacts the Medical Center over time. Searches in seven separate
areas will ultimately be required and the incumbent may be assigned all or a part of this V
information gathering task. These areas are: V V _ .
· Ma.croec0nomic (national, VHA and VISN budgets, impact of wars/conflicts on
V this budget, impact of the makeup of both l—louses.on.the budget, etc,).
· Microeconomic (Michael Porters Framework for Competitive intelligence will
be utilized). . `
· Upcoming scientilic and technology changes.
, • Epidemilogical influences. V
' · Demographics of the veteran (age, education & income level, number of V
· inductees intothe military, etc.). V ~ V
V f · Political orregulatory changes"imp·acting· VHA and internal directives (VHA 6 .
for 2006, VISN Strategic Targets, Patient Rights Bill, the Millenium Act, etc.).
· Social or cultural influences (feeling of entitlement, patient and staff
, satisfaction, etc). `
`This will require the incumbent to conduct a literature search on a focused topic, request
articles, journal or books from the Medical Centers Library, or to locate specific V
information on the internet and duplicate/print pertinent information for the tile. In . -
V addition, the incumbent may be assigned responsibility to develop spreadsheets, charts, .
tables and graphs to display the information gathered using Microsoft Word, Excel,
. V Access or PowerPoint. · t · V
Other special assignment may be given to the incumbent involvingV data entry or
analysis. V T
V The incumbent will work an administrative tour of duty in an office, located in the V
MH&BSS section of the G"` floor of building 1. The reassignment to this position will
take effect October 22, 2001.
