Dear Judge:
My name is José Cruz Parra Mariscal. I am 21 years old, and come from Badiraguato,
Sinaloa. I have three brothers and two sisters. I used to work in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico in
construction and earned 600 pesos per week. I know I committed a crime and must pay for it. I am
very remorseful for what I did, and I am not going to do it again.
Iwould like for you give me another chance in my life. This mistake I made is always going
to be in my mind. Jails are very ugly and dangerous, and my parents and relatives are very worried
about me, and they need me. I am telling you all this from the bottom of my heart, and once I am
released from here I shall not return to the United States.
I apologize and ask your forgiveness for causing so many problems, and I know that this
letter I am writing may not help me, but I would like for you to understand me. I have very little
contact with my family because I do not have the means to do so. They are not aware of what is
happening in my case. Thank you very much for everything. I hope these words have not upset you.
