Dear Mr. Greaves: As requested, I met with Ms. Majdanski at the above referenced residence on February 19, 1999. The purpose of this meeting was to examine the recent slab movement and determine if it could likely be related to a recent under slab water leak. There is a large crack in the tile and floor slab running across the hall between the dining room and the kitchen. These tiles over the floor crack have been replaced before and do not match the original floor tiles. There is evidence of previous and new recent movement along this crack.

There is a crack across the garage ceiling drywall that appe&s to be new., There is a crack in the swimming pool wail that was shown to me by Ms. Majdanski. This area could not possibly be affected by an under slab leak in the family room and is not related The crack at tt?e outside fence wl is likely due to tree roots fiom the adjacent al tree and is also elated to the under slab water leak.

It is common for earth movement from under slab water leaks to occur slowly over an extended period of time. Ms. Majdanski ieported that the cracking and movement has been steadily getting worse since the plumbing was repaired. Therefore, I recommend that a 90 to 120 day waiting period be observed to allow the soils to dry out and stabilize before any repairs are made. After this waiting period, I recommend that the slab cracks be structurally repaired by pressure epoxy injection or slab stitching by a qualified contractor. This is a specialized repair and should only be done by a

contractor experienced in concrete repairs and restoration. One contractor that we have found to be qualified is Truesdell Corporation ( 437-1 7 11). After the crack is repaired, the slab.should be ground level and new tile can be set. At the time of my inspection the drywall ciacks were a cosmetic problem. .only and should . be patched and repaintd. . . . . . . .
