Juror Questionnaire Gant v. Vanderpool, et al. CV03-2077-PHX-EHC
In this case, plaintiff, Robert Gant, is suing Pinal County and the former sheriff for the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, Roger Vanderpool, for violation of his rights to equal protection by discriminating against him on the basis of his race and age, subjecting him to a racially hostile work environment, retaliating against him, and negligently supervising Roger Vanderpool. Before the case can start, a jury must be selected. The judge and the people involved in the case need to know something about you in order to select jurors who can be fair to both sides. The questions asked of potential jurors are designed to help the Court and the lawyers learn something about your background and your views on issues that may be related to this case. The questions are asked not to invade your privacy, but to make sure that you can be a fair and impartial juror. If there is any reason why you might not be able to give both sides a fair trial in this case, it is important that you say so. Everyone has attitudes and opinions that are shaped by their life experiences. Sometimes these experiences can make it difficult to look at a certain issue in an unbiased and unemotional way. As a juror, you must return a verdict based on the law and on the facts proved in court, not on emotion or on other views not supported by the evidence. The Court will give you instructions on the law and on how you should go about deciding the case. You must listen to and follow the Court's instructions. To speed up the jury selection process, we are using individual questionnaires. Your responses on this questionnaire will only be seen by the Court, the attorneys and their assistants and will be kept confidential. Since you have been sworn in, you are under oath in answering these questions, and must answer each question truthfully and to the best of your ability. Please answer all questions in a complete and accurate manner. There are no right or wrong answers; the Court and the attorneys are just interested in learning about your background and true opinions. You may be asked further questions based upon your answers to this written questionnaire, but these questions will be asked in private and all answers will be confidential. Your answers to this questionnaire will be destroyed when this case has been concluded. PLEASE WRITE OR PRINT YOUR ANSWERS AS LEGIBLY AS POSSIBLE USING BLUE OR BLACK INK. Do not write on the back of any page. You may
