I, Sherrie Eastwood, being of lawful age and duly sworn under oath, hereby state
as follows:
1. I am the HR Administrator for Arch Coal, Inc.

2. I was asked to determine the number of employees employed by Arch

Coal, Inc., Arch Western Resources, LLC, and Mountain Coal Company, LLC for the

time period 1998 through 2000. Arch and its subsidiaries have used the Oracle
computer system to track information regarding employees since the last quarter of

1998. Therefore, I was able to research and provide the requested information for the
last quarter of 1998 through 2000.
