JOINT STATUS REPORT Pursuant to the Court's June 25, 2008 Order, the parties respectfully submit this Joint Status Report. Since the Court stayed proceedings on June 25, 2008, the parties have been discussing the possibility of settlement. The parties are attempting to resolve certain issues raised during the discussions, and determine whether settlement of this matter may be appropriate. For the reasons set forth above, the parties request the Court to stay the proceedings for forty-five days, to and including September 15, 2008. The parties will file a joint status report on September 15, 2008 regarding the status of any settlement discussions, or provide a proposed date for the government to file its response to the plaintiff's motion to exclude.
