THE UNITED STATES, Defendant. __________________ JOINT STATUS REPORT __________________ The parties submit this joint status report pursuant to the Court's order, dated June 19, 2006. Plaintiff in this case seeks a refund of the federal communications excise tax for taxable quarters ended June 30, 2002, through June 30, 2005. As requested by defendant, plaintiff has provided further substantiating evidence in support of its offer to compromise this case. Plaintiff's offer is now being reviewed by the proper authorities within the Justice Department, according to its usual procedure. Counsel for defendant anticipates that action will be taken on plaintiff's offer within the next 30 days.
