STATE BOARD OF COSMETOLOGY EXAMINERS MANICURIST SALON SANITARY RULES
1. A cosmetologist or manicurist shall at all times, while serving a customer, wear a clean, washable outer garmet, pursuant to 820 IAC 3-1-8(b). A cosmetologist or manicurist shall: 2. (a) Wash hands with germicidal soap and fresh water immediately before serving each customer, pursuant to 820 IAC 3-1-15(c)(1). (b) Assure that the table where a customer is receiving manicuring services has been cleaned with an antiseptic, pursuant to 820 IAC 3-1-15(c)(2). (c) Use a clean towel for each customer, pursuant to 820 IAC 3-1-15(c)(3). (d) Clean the foot bath and foot paddle with soap, water and alcohol after each use, pursuant to 820 IAC 3-1-15(c)(4). (e) Clean the hot mitten liners with soap and water after each use, pursuant to 820 IAC 3-1-15(c)(5). (f) Clean the manicure bowl with soap, water and alcohol after each use, pursuant to 820 IAC 3-1-15(c)(6). (g) Use ventilation while using chemicals, pursuant to 820 IAC 3-1-15(c)(7). 3. All instruments used by a cosmetologist or manicurist shall be sterilized prior to use on a customer, pursuant to 820 IAC 3-1-15(a). 4. Sterilization shall be as follows: (a) Before putting into a sterilizer, instruments shall be precleaned using a clean cottonball moistened with a low residue detergent and cool water or a solution having at least seventy percent (70%) alcohol, pursuant to 820 IAC 1-3-15(b)(1). (b) After cleaning, instruments shall be rinsed thoroughly and dried, pursuant to 820 IAC 3-1-15 (b)(2). (c) Sterilization shall be accomplished by means of wet sterilizer, according to manufacturer's specifications, pursuant to 820 IAC 3-115(b)(3).

RULES SHALL BE POSTED IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE IN SALON.
