Pending before the Court is Defendant Carolyn Ann Harris Reed's Corrected

17 Motion to Reset Self Surrender Date. (Dkt. 523.) 18 Defendant has been ordered to self-surrender for service of sentence at the

19 institution designated by the Bureau of Prisons or United States Marshal on November 18, 20 2005. (Dkt. 505 at 4.) In the instant Motion, Defendant requests her self-surrender date be 21 reset to January 10, 2006, on the grounds that (1) she has filed an appeal and, in the next 22 thirty days, plans to file a Rule 2255 motion to vacate the sentence; (2) a petition to 23 appoint her mother as guardian of her three children has not yet been granted; and (3) as of 24 October 31, 2005, she still has not been designated for a facility placement. Only the 25 second and third grounds asserted constitute good cause to reset Defendant's self26 surrender date. With this continuance of the self-surrender date, Defendant should be able 27 to accomplish situating her children before she begins service of her sentence. 28 / / /
