EIGHTH SUPPLEMENTAL JOINT CASE MANAGEMENT REPORT AND REQUEST FOR CONTINUANCE OF JUNE 30, 2006 STATUS CONFERENCE

Pursuant to the Seventh Supplemental Joint Case Management Report, the parties

respectfully submit the following Eighth Supplemental Joint Case Management Report And
Request For Continuance Of June 30, 2006 Status Conference:
I. The Parties' Activities Since April 2006:

A. Contribution Claims: Since the last Case Management Report, tral
counsel have negotiated a proposed Consent Decree resolving the Contrbution Claims, which
UPI and Crane have approved. The United States is actively pursuing the requisite

management approvals and anticipates presenting a proposed Consent Decree to the Court
within the next 60 days.

B. Enforcement Claims: On June 21, 2006, the United States fied an
unopposed motion to enter the Partial Consent Decree previously lodged with the Court,
comprehensively resolving the Enforcement Claims.

II.

Continuance of June 30, 2006 Status Conference: In light of

the foregoing,

in order to conserve resources and focus efforts on obtaining the management approvals

needed to consummate a settlement of the Contrbution Claims, the parties respectfully
request that the Court continue the status conference presently scheduled for June 30, 2006.
