INSTRUCTION NO. G-18 An indictment is but a formal method used by the government to accuse a defendant of a crime. It is not evidence of any kind against a defendant. Each defendant is presumed to be innocent of the crimes charged. Even though this indictment has been returned against each defendant, the defendant begins this trial with absolutely no evidence against him. Each of the defendants has pleaded "Not Guilty" to this indictment and, therefore, denies that he is guilty of the charges.
