IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLORADO Senior District Judge Richard P. Matsch Criminal Case No. 01-cr-00395-RPM UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, Plaintiff, v. JACK DOWELL, Defendant. __________________________________________________________________ ORDER PERMITTING PURCHASE OF SEALED DOCUMENTS __________________________________________________________________ On June 1, 2007, the defendant Jack Dowell, who is serving a prison sentence imposed by this Court, filed a Motion to Unseal Documents, constituting applications by his court-appointed counsel for Criminal Justice Act payments. In a letter previously submitted under date of April 24, 2007, Mr. Dowell explains the importance of these documents to his preparation of a motion under 28 U.S.C. § 2255. While the documents should remain under seal from public access, consistent with the CJA and this court's policy, Mr. Dowell should be permitted to obtain copies of those documents to assist him in pursuing any collateral review of the adequacy of the representation provided to him by counsel. Accordingly, it is ORDERED that Jack Dowell be permitted to purchase and thereby obtain copies of the sealed documents requested in his motion. DATED: June 14th , 2007 BY THE COURT: s/Richard P.
