DEFENDANT'S ANSWER For its answer to the complaint, defendant admits, denies, and alleges as follows: 1. Defendant lacks knowledge or information sufficient to form a belief as to the truth of the allegations in paragraph 1 and on that basis denies them. 2. Admits. 3. Defendant admits only that Major Cockerham signed for receipt of Gulf Group's claim on December 15, 2005; the remainder of the allegations contained in paragraph 4 constitute conclusions of law and plaintiff's characterization of its case, to which no answer is required; to the extent they may be deemed allegations of fact, they are denied. 5. Admits to the extent the allegations contained in paragraph 5 are supported by the cited contract, which is the best evidence of its contents; otherwise denies the allegations contained in paragraph 5.
