On November 13, 2000, thc Dcpéirtmenx of Enviréumcutal Protection forwarded to your attention copies
of Ek: reports related to abovemcfcrcnccd sitc. Statements made in two of thc reports allcgc that wastes
fiom the Former Winchwtcr C0- WBIE disposed at this site in the 1940s and carly 1950s prior to the si1c‘s
development as a school in 1955.
Currently, the Town of Hamden Board of Education is planning to construct an addition on thc school
prcpcxty. The presence and nature of potential landfill materials on tha site is now of utmost concern to
the studcutfs parents, teachers, and town officials. "Hacrefcrc, the Department is formally requesting that
Olin Corporation please review its Winchester, U.S. Repeating Arms, and Olin files for my inibmaaticm ·
rcladng to potential historic disposal activities that may have occurred 0n or proximal to thc sim. Plcasc
