JUVENILE (CINC) CASE SUBTYPE DEFINITIONS ABUSE CASE - Cases alleging a child is a child in need of care due to physical, mental, emotional, or sexual abuse. NEGLECT CASE - Cases alleging a child is a child in need of care due to neglectful acts or omissions by the child's parent, guardian, or custodian that are not due solely to a lack of financial means. Such cases involve failure to provide a child with suitable food, shelter, clothing, hygiene, medical care, or parental supervision. DEPENDENT (NO FAULT) CASE - Cases alleging one or more of the grounds for dependency without specifically faulting the parent(s) or guardian. TERMINATION OF PARENTAL RIGHTS CASE - Cases in which a petition is filed requesting that the court extinguish the legal relationship of parent and child. OTHER DEPENDENCY/CHILD VICTIM CASE - Cases of unknown specificity or cases not attributable to one of the other previously defined dependency case categories. STATUS OFFENSE/PETITION CASE - Cases involving non-criminal misbehavior by a juvenile. The behavior is an offense because of the youth's status as a minor. Examples of status offenses include curfew violation, runaway, incorrigible/ungovernable, truancy and alcohol consumption by a minor.
